About The 3D Print Log

An independent, hands-on review site for 3D printers, filaments and accessories. I always use a product over an extended period and will report my actual findings.

Hi, I'm Lander

I'm a student and a hobbyist maker, and I've been into 3D printing for more than five years now. What started as curiosity turned into the thing I tinker with most: printers, filaments, settings, mods, the whole rabbit hole. This site is where I write down what I learn, in plain language, for anyone walking the same path.

Why I do this?

A few reasons, honestly. Good, honest reviews are surprisingly rare. So much of what you find online is a quick unboxing with a sponsor link attached, and it's hard to know who to trust when you are about to spend real money. I would rather give you the straight version, including the annoying bits.

It is also a way to document my own journey. After five-plus years and a few printers, I have made plenty of the mistakes so you might not have to, and writing things up keeps me honest about what actually works. And mostly, I just love this hobby and the community around it. This site is my way of giving a little back, and hopefully helping you buy smart instead of learning the hard way.

How I test?

The goal is for scores to mean the same thing across every review, so I try to keep the process consistent.

How I score?

Scores are out of 10 and reflect a few things that matter day to day: print quality, ease of use, speed, build quality and value. A high price does not lower a score on its own, but it does feed into value. A great machine that is a pain to live with loses points on ease of use, because that matters in real use.

Print qualityDetail, accuracy, surface finish, consistency
Ease of useSetup, software, day-to-day friction
SpeedReal throughput, not just marketing numbers
Build qualityHow well it is made and how it holds up
ValueWhat you get for the money versus rivals
